Laboratory Service Providers > How Does Aeriflux™ Work?

If you have a cough, Aeriflux™ may help your doctor diagnose the cause, and help get you on the right treatment, sooner.

Acid reflux from your stomach can get in to your lungs, and is a major cause of cough. Acid Reflux Cough can occur without any other lung disease (although the diagnosis can be easily missed). Some people have cough with exercise that is caused by acid reflux.

Acid Reflux Cough is particularly common in people with other lung diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis and after lung transplant. Lung and Allergy physicians worry that the acid getting into the lungs is a major complicating factor in these chronic illnesses, and in some cases even the cause.

Most people who have Acid Reflux Cough don't have heartburn or any other symptoms to help bring the diagnosis to mind. And the cough is just like the cough of other diseases. This can make the diagnosis difficult to make. Aeriflux was designed to make the diagnostic process much easier.

Measuring the acids in the moisture in your breath can provide just the information your doctor needs to make the diagnosis of Acid Reflux Cough. This is what Aeriflux is all about.

Doing the test is as easy as breathing

The Aeriflux breath sampling kit is an easy-to-use way to capture moisture from your breath. Measuring the acid in this moisture using the special Aeriflux test can help your doctor better diagnose the cause of your cough. It's a fast and effective way to get your doctor the information needed to accurately diagnose your condition and prescribe the right treatment for finding relief fast.

Quicker diagnosis, faster relief.

Aeriflux takes away the guessing and makes the diagnosis of Acid Reflux Cough.

The Aeriflux breath sampling kit is an easy-to-use way to capture moisture from your breath so your doctor can better diagnose the cause of your cough.

Simple to use. Just breathe into the mouthpiece for five minutes. It is easier than blowing up a balloon or playing a musical instrument. See Instructions

The Aeriflux breath sampling kit contains a set of eight RTube breath collecting tubes. You can usually complete the set of breath collections over 1 to 2 days.
A cold metal cylinder and cloth cover slide over the tube to make it easier for the moisture in your breath to condense.
The moisture in your breath will begin to form water droplets on the inner walls of the tube. Breathing a little harder than you usually do helps to get sufficient sample. Make sure you are breathing in and out through your mouth, not your nose.

After breathing for five minutes, you remove the metal sleeve from the RTube sample collector, throw away the blue mouth piece, and put the blue endcaps on the sample chamber. Put the metal sleeve in the freezer to make it cold again.

.
Write on the label your name, the date and time, and check off "Cough" or"No Symptoms", then place the collected sample in the freezer until it is time to mail the sample to our laboratory.

After completing all 8 breath sample collections, the 8 capped RTubes are then placed into the pre-addressed envelope and sent to the laboratory to perform the assay. (There is no need to keep them frozen during shipment)

At the laboratory, the breath samples will be tested for abnormal levels of acid. Evaluating the acidity level of the moisture in your breath using the Aeriflux assay gives critical information to your doctor about the causes of your cough. Acid gets in your breath and in your lungs when stomach acid gets into your airway. And Aeriflux will find this acid for you, so that you and your doctgor can know the diagnosis, and treat it correctly.

And with the right diagnosis, the right therapy can be prescribed.
